Fall Chinook: Fall Chinook Salmon are the biggest of all the Salmon that swim up the Columbia river. Intercepting a 35-pound fall Salmon is one heck of a battle for both experienced and inexperienced anglers. Fall Chinook average from 10 to 30 pounds, with some reaching as high as 40 to 50 pounds. The fall run of Chinook begins in August and runs through September. Troling cut-plug herring at Buoy 10 is a very productive method for catching these fresh out of the ocean, stubborn fighting fall salmon.
